If you've got rosacea, acne-prone skin or your skin just tend to be red all the time you know how problematic makeup might be. So I had moments when my skin was looking brighter but still, under the makeup, you could easily see some redness. I know that I can use a colour-correcting concealer but why do I need that when I can mix both - correction and skincare. Dr.Jart+ Cicapair Tiger Grass Color Correcting Treatment with SPF 30 is a cream which not only soothes your skin but it also corrects your complexion. Is it the last piece that your skin needs to level up your makeup game?
I'm sure you know Dr.Jart+, a South Korean cosmetic brand. The story of this brand started in 2004 but the Dr.Jart+ first product was released to the public in 2005. Now, you can find Dr.Jart+ products in 46 countries all around the world, it is worth a mention that Estee Lauder Company decided to invest in this brand. In my opinion, Dr.Jart+ as a brand is mostly known for Ceramidin series which is one of the most interesting kbeauty series for dehydrated and sensitive skin - if your skin barrier is destroyed then this series might be ideal for you since it's based on Ceramides (I made small post about it on Instagram with all the details).
But what's so amazing about Tiger Grass Cream and why this cream is called Tiger Grass? The name is not random, it's strongly related to the name of the main ingredient of this goodness - Centella Asiatica which is also called Gotu Kola and actually - a Tiger Grass. Centella is an ingredient which I like to call 'a multitool' - it works for all skin types, it works on blemishes, dry spots or inflammation. The plant of Centella gives us more than just Centella Water or Extract, ingredients such as Asiaticoside, Asiatic Acid, Madecassic Acid and Madecassoside. You can clearly smell the strong scent of the Centella which I personally like a lot - it makes me relaxed.
This product is full of ingredients which can really help you with your skin like Niacinamide, Panthenol, Beeswax and Adenosine. But it's not like the ingredient list is so clean and pretty, it has some weak points too. This cream contains BHT, Citric Acid, Alcohol. If your skin is sensitive then the mix of natural extracts and essential oils might cause a reaction even if we have here quite a huge amount of ingredients which should help with inflammation. As a person with combo skin, I should be scared of both - essential oils and ingredients which might clog my pores like Butylene Glycol, Dimethicone, Stearic Acid and Cetearyl Alcohol. Obviously, this product contains colourants such as Chromium Oxide Greens but some of the pigments have a positive role - they protect your skin from UV light - Titanium Dioxide and Zinc Oxide.
The texture of this cream is quite thick and it might look like it's a hell for oily skin but in my opinion, if you once figure out how to use it - it can completely change your life. I have to admit that I had two attempts at using this cream - without powder and with powder. A small amount of this product is enough to cover the entire face, it's not a product which you can easily wash off your face - if you follow me on Instagram then you know that I had an accident and half of the product ended up on my floor, carpet, literally everywhere and removing it from all these places took me such a long time. This disaster helped me see how does this cream works - it's literally green but once you apply it, the colour will try to suit your skin tone. I only mention that my routine was the same - I used toner, serum, emulsion and then I've applied Dr.Jart+ cream.
I do not use any base, literally, this cream is my base. You can put this cream on your finger but if you're not a fan of a cream which is going to leave the film on your fingers even if you wash it with water and soap then you might prefer to use concealer brush instead of a finger - if you only want to use it on spots then concealer brush is going to be the best thing to use to apply it. The only thing that sucks in that method is the fact that you have to clean it after every use. The I apply MAC Studio Fix NW10 foundation with a blend it sponge and I use pressed powder or I leave it without any powder since I want my makeup to not be very matte. If you want to get more glow - get an ampoule and gently tap it above cheekbones.
My biggest problem with this attempt was the fact that my skin was more sticky and the foundation was literally dropping from my face - I was really shiny and that's what is worth a mention - it makes your skin brighter and you get this healthy glow which in case of an oily skin it'll turn into sebum glow. I almost give up on this attempt but then I accidentally did one thing.
You know what's the worst thing in pressed powders? I feel like they don't work but I got a L'oreal powder which I got as a gift and OMG if you combine Dr.Jart+ Cicapair Tiger Grass Color Correcting Treatment and L'oreal True Match Minerals Finishing Powder, you'll get the best mix which will help your makeup last longer.
Again you can apply the cream with a finger or a concealer brush, I use blend it sponge to apply Mac Studio Fix NW10 foundation and then I'll apply L'oreal powder with a Powder Brush from Sigma. Then I usually apply all the other steps like blush, etc. If you want to use concealer - do it before a powder. I did that accidentally and my makeup lasted for about 8 hours which in my case is something strange since my face starts to get oily after 2-3 hours if I use pressed powder. The difference in skin colour is really visible and this solution saves my skin when I got acne and post-acne scars on my face.
I got small jars which are only 15ml but I feel like this amount will last for good couple months, I've tested this cream in quite a cold temperature, during the rainy days and sometimes I had a big change of temperatures - from -15 to +25 and in humid air. It worked for me but remember that your skin might react differently. I'm aware that lots of people with oily skin think that this cream is too heavy for them but in my opinion, it's a hoax made by Madecassoside. This cream can really make your life easier if you apply it well.
